Logan Simpson Design Inc. is seeking an energetic individual with the knowledge and experience to develop and conduct biological field studies, and prepare various environmental and biological reports in accordance with the requirements of the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, and other federal and state environmental compliance regulations. Field investigations are generally completed to characterize biological resources and evaluate project-based environmental impacts, and may include wetland delineations, native plant inventories, fish and wildlife surveys and studies, protected species surveys and monitoring, and ecological/vegetation community mapping. Must be well-organized, a team player, critical thinker, effective writer, and self-motivator.
- Conducts field surveys for wildlife, fish, and/or plant species and their habitats, especially threatened, endangered or sensitive (TES) species
- Prepares/assists in the preparation of standard and complex environmental reports such as ecological analyses, habitat assessments, environmental settings, biological assessments, biological evaluations, management indicator species reports, and formal Section 7 consultations)
- Some client and agency contacts
- Identifies, develops, and maintains marketing leads related to project work
- Prepares and updates federal, state, and tribal permits
- Other duties as assigned commensurate to the level of education and experience
- Will support other disciplines and other offices in accordance with capabilities and experience
- B.S./B.A. in biology, botany, ecology, fisheries, wildlife management, or related field with three years of relevant post-degree experience in the public and/or private sector, or M.S. degree in appropriate biological field with one year experience
- Experience in conducting ecological/biological field studies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to conduct surveys in remote, rugged terrain in extreme climates
